Frequently Asked Questions For Truck Ignition System
Resolved Question: 1990 Ford F150 fuel system, starting, and ignition switch questions.?
Ok, I got this truck and I am trying to get it running, so far I have put a new gas tank in it, including a working fuel pump (and oh, by the way, with a lift and a tall jack it IS possible and, in fact, very easy to drop the gas tank without unhooking the connections, they are all rubber and very flexible). This is just the front tank by the way, I think I'll just forget about the back one. Question one; Is there a way to bypass the fuel tank switch so i know that it is calling only for the front tank? When you turn the key, it only goes as far as the run position, so my initial thought was to change out the ignition switch, well I dropped the steering column, and when I push the rod going into the switch all the way in it seems to go into the starting position, but the key won't turn enough to do that task, so I took the key lock cylinder out and it seems to move freely and it would allow it to go into starting position, but when I put the cylinder back in, it doesn't go far enough. Question two; do I have to take the steering wheel off, and if I do, what is the part called that I have to replace? I believe that I have to replace the starter solenoid, because when I jammed the ignition rod down into the starting position, it only dimmed the lights and didn't activate the starter. Also when the ignition switch is in run position it doesn't run the fuel pump for a second like it should, and when I try to start it, it doesn't run either, so I replaced the fuel pump solenoid and still nothing, so I did that EEC fuel pump test thing where you ground the fuel pump thing and still nothing. So I ran my own wires down to the fuel pump and hooked them up so the fuel pump would run and jumped the starter solenoid while spraying starter fluid into the intake to see if I could just get it running. I sprayed starter fluig in there for about ten minutes and still when I stopped, the engine would stop, so I am still not getting gas up there. Question three; Why isn't the fuel pump running when I turn the key, and why am I not getting fuel even with the fuel pump hot wired?

Resolved Question: Removing my catalytic converter and muffler?
My truck has been losing power, It could be a clogged exhaust system, but not for sure. I have no money for repairs, so I think I am just going to cut the catalytic converter and muffler loose and see what happens. Anyone had any experience doing this if so any problems? 88 Ramcharger, 318, don't care if it's illegal.

Resolved Question: I need to locate a 12V power source in a 2012 Nissan Frontier SV, that preferibly is located in the fuse box.?
I have a P/A and air-horn system that I have installed in the front of my truck; I know I can run cables right to the battery or to a 12V outlet inside the car. I, however, want to locate a connection in the engine compartment fuse box that is made for things like this such as connecting auxiliary devices. This would allow the system to only have power when the ignition is on and to have a fuse via the fuse box and not an in-line fuse. Where in my car is what I am looking for? and where exactly do the cables go in the fusebox? how do I know what fuse slot goes to what cable connection?

Resolved Question: Leaving my car out in the cold?
Okay so I have a 2012 Buick Verano and I have to leave it parked out in the cold, as I don't have any indoor parking available. Any recommendations for car covers or things to keep the engine ok in the winter. Sometimes it goes to the negatives where I live. Also there is a high chance of snowfall. Please advise how to keep the engine from freezing!
